It’s always interesting to watch new home style trends changing. Here’s some of our favourites that are currently HOT and very apparent in our client’s decor and design choices in 2022.
Feature walls are in! Think earth-based neutrals and rich soothing colours which evoke a feeling of comfort and warmth. While earthy and neutral tones are huge right now, so are bold pops of colour or design. These are often seen in a feature wall that really brings a room alive and are sure to be a conversation starter.
Zig zags, we are seeing this in the way people are creatively choosing to lay wooden flooring or tiling on walls. Moving away from regular straight lines to create an extraordinary effect. It’s not just herringbone or chevron patterns that are in, we’ve also spotted curves making a huge comeback, as is finding design inspiration from past decades and experimenting with pattern and texture.
Let’s talk bathrooms. Clinical all white vibes are out though large tiles and free-standing bathtubs are still trending. Scenic brightly coloured murals have become popular as well as luxurious lighting fixtures and mixing textures – all creating a relaxing spa like experience in your very own home. We are also seeing the use of walk-in shower designs and floating vanities.
Moving onto where things really start to get HOT, the kitchen. Tiled backsplashes are nothing new, but we are seeing a shift from matt finishes to glazed tiles. We are also seeing a lot of handmade and artisan materials brought into homes particularly in the way of tiles. Raffia or woven pendant lights are still huge.
The kitchen is an area of the home that you can’t go wrong with the tasteful use of natural elements this year and while natural colours are in so are brave colour contrasts and dark kitchens. Other noteworthy kitchen design trends like double islands, handless cabinetry and gold tap and sink fittings to really add warmth and a luxurious feel to your home.
Bringing outdoor structure inside. Hardworking exposed surfaces usually reserved for the outdoors are being brought in for a unique look – think industrial look tiles. Showing off the structural mechanics that make up the homes we live in can add a beautiful, rugged look. Tongue and groove boards on the ceiling can add interest while creating texture. With natural stones and woods becoming a staple in most modern home design, while marble is ALWAYS in, more unpolished and earthy toned stone has stepped into the light, feeding into the ever-popular trend of connecting to nature.
It’s safe to say that in 2022 New Home Style Trends are all about bold colour and pattern choices combined with earth-based neutrals and natural lighting.
